Dr Dipa Jayaseelan

Consultant Neurologist

Dr Dipa Jayaseelan is a Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and an Honorary lecturer at UCL Institute of Neurology. She runs consultant clinics in muscle channelopathies, neuromuscular transition and Kennedy's disease. She also does Paediatric Channelopathy and Transition clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She has a general neurology practice based at the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Jayaseelan did her undergraduate training at the University of Cambridge and University College London and her medical and neurology training at the Royal Free Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She was awarded an NIH CINCH fellowship followed by an MRC clinical research training fellowship in 2009.

She did her PhD focusing on muscle channelopathies at the Institute of Neurology where she ran the UK arm of the mexiletine study looking at the efficacy of mexiletine in patients with Non-dystrophic myotonia. Her PhD also looked at novel ways of identifying genetic mutations in channelopathy patients and the prevalence of channelopathies in the UK. She continues her channelopathy research whilst a consultant and is actively involved in a number of clinical trials.
